Kim Jong-un Tributes Chinese War Casualties
This event was reported by a news agency on Sunday.
As per the news agency, Kim offered a wreath at the monument on Saturday, declaring that North Korea "would never forget the militant feats and merits of the fallen fighters of the Chinese People's Volunteers."
The statement underscored the enduring reverence Pyongyang holds for Chinese forces who fought during the war.
The armistice agreement, signed on July 27, 1953, brought an end to active combat in the Korean War. Since 1996, North Korea has marked this day as Victory Day, claiming it triumphed over US-led military coalitions.
The Friendship Tower, erected in 1959, stands as a tribute to Chinese soldiers and represents the enduring alliance between North Korea and China.
Kim has made frequent visits to the site during previous anniversaries to reinforce bilateral ties.
In addition to this visit, Kim also stopped at the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum, where he placed a floral arrangement before a statue of his grandfather, Kim Il-sung.
He applauded the Korean War outcome as a validation of Juche-style military philosophy and combat strategy.
Kim further asserted that North Korea would “surely achieve the great cause of building a rich country with a strong army” and emerge as “honorable victors in the anti-imperialist, anti-US showdown,” according to the news agency.
