Nvidia Secures Top AI Specialists from China
Zhu Banghua and Jiao Jiantao, both alumni of China’s prestigious Tsinghua University, announced their appointments at Nvidia on social media, sharing photos alongside the company’s founder and CEO, Jensen Huang.
Zhu, who earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical and electronics engineering at Tsinghua and recently completed a PhD in electrical engineering and computer science at the University of California, Berkeley, has joined Nvidia as a principal research scientist, according to a post on X.
Jiao, holding a PhD in electrical, electronics, and communications engineering from Stanford University after graduating from Tsinghua, revealed on LinkedIn that he joined Nvidia to “help push the frontier of artificial general intelligence and artificial super intelligence.”
This move comes as Nvidia surged back to the top of the global market, briefly surpassing Microsoft last week to become the world’s most valuable company with a market capitalization of $3.77 trillion.
Nvidia continues to dominate the graphics processing unit (GPU) market, which is crucial for AI advancement and large language model training. Despite recent U.S. export restrictions targeting China, Nvidia remains the leader in the global AI hardware industry.
